Based on a strategic partnership with UCL, we strategically allocate resources and promote university-wide educational and research exchanges across multiple fields. Among them, the International Research Institute of Disaster Science (IRIDeS) and UCL’s Institute for Risk and Disaster Reduction (IRDR) and the Earthquake and People Interaction Centre (EPICentre) are collaborating on resilience and disaster-related issues. In addition to this collaborative research, we have promoted student exchanges, including joint supervision and field research for more than 10 years, in multiple graduate programs at our university. Since 2019, our activities have been selected to receive support from the Tohoku University-UCL Matching Fund every year, which is strengthening our research.
